Use etravel.gov.ph, prepare the correct passport and flight details, and save the completed declaration’s QR before travel. eTravel registration is free. It is a travel-information submission, so keep the passport, ticket and any other required documents ready as well. A saved QR should match the person and the actual journey being checked.
Who should prepare a record?
The official eTravel FAQ covers arriving Filipino and foreign passengers and crew, plus departing Filipino passengers, with listed diplomatic and official-passport exceptions. Do not infer an exemption from being an OFW, returning resident or travelling with a parent. If an exception may apply, check the official category rather than guessing from a family member’s experience.
This guide concerns the declaration workflow. It does not decide visa eligibility, permission to leave the Philippines, OFW documentation or the treatment of goods. A completed form is not a replacement for a separate requirement that applies to your trip.
Check the window against the actual journey
The portal FAQ says registration is available within 72 hours before arrival in or departure from the Philippines. The Bureau of Customs notice of 9 May 2024 likewise describes submitting within 72 hours before travel. Prepare the information earlier so you can complete the travel record when the portal accepts the applicable date.
There is a wording conflict: the Bureau of Immigration advisory says “at least 72 hours,” while the portal says “within 72 hours.” These are not equivalent instructions. Check the current portal and seek official clarification if your date is rejected or your airline gives different instructions. Do not enter an incorrect date to force a submission. This guide uses the portal’s published registration window, without claiming the sources agree.
For an overnight inbound trip, separate the departure date abroad from the arrival date in the Philippines. If the airline changes the flight, inspect the travel record again. An old QR saved for last year’s holiday should not be assumed to describe this journey.
A pre-submission worksheet
| Check | Keep beside the form | Common mistake to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Traveller | Passport used for the journey | Copying another relative’s number |
| Direction | Inbound or outbound itinerary | Registering the return direction first |
| Flight | Latest operating flight details | Using an earlier cancelled sector |
| Date | Local travel dates shown on the ticket | Confusing departure abroad with Philippine arrival |
| Declarations | Accurate personal and baggage information | Copying answers without reading the question |
| Confirmation | The completed record and QR | Saving an unfinished screen instead |
Treat the table as a preparation aid, not a reproduction of every portal field. Read each question on the live form. Where a family member needs help, let them check their own details and answers. Keep track of each traveller’s completed record; sharing a phone or booking does not make identity details interchangeable.
Save proof before leaving a reliable connection
Open the official site directly and follow its current sign-in and travel-declaration steps. The FAQ says the service works in a browser; downloading an application is not required. Use a connection you can rely on and review the completed information before submitting.
Save the QR to a private location on the device and test that it opens offline. A printed copy is also allowed by the FAQ. Name files so family members can identify the right record without publishing passport numbers. Keep a private backup if the person travelling depends on a companion’s phone, particularly when companions may separate at the airport.
Avoid paid “registration assistance” pages presented as government fees. Do not give an unverified account a passport scan, password or verification code merely to retrieve a QR. Use the official portal’s recovery or support options.
Correct an error before inspection
The FAQ permits changes to some information before border authorities process and verify the record, and describes an Edit Registration option for retrieval and corrections. Use the options currently shown by the official service; account interfaces can change. Save the corrected proof and distinguish it from an older screenshot.
If no correction option is available, contact official support or the relevant airport staff rather than inventing a new identity detail. Tell the officer about the discrepancy. Keep the updated itinerary accessible so the changed flight can be explained. Do not present multiple conflicting QR versions in quick succession and expect staff to know which is current.
Plan the airport separately
Use the NAIA airport guide or Cebu airport guide for the next step after documentation. Immigration, checked bags and terminal transfers need their own plan. A QR colour or completed submission does not promise a particular queue time.
Put the latest itinerary and pickup details in the trip planner. If the booking changes airports, work through the NAIA–Clark transfer checklist before buying the next ticket. Completing eTravel cannot protect an independently booked connection.
Frequently asked questions
Is eTravel registration free?
Yes. Use the official etravel.gov.ph service. A payment request for registration is not an official eTravel fee.
Can I correct a submitted record?
The official FAQ allows some changes before border authorities process and verify it. Use the current editing options and ask official support if the required correction is unavailable.
Does an eTravel QR replace my passport or visa?
No. Keep the passport and any other documents required for your circumstances. The QR identifies the submitted travel information; this guide does not determine entry eligibility.
